Hotel and Travel Information

We are pleased to provide information about making hotel reservations and travel arrangements for the Healthy People 2020 Public Meeting in Philadelphia, PA. We also include local travel information for getting to the hotel from Philadelphia International Airport. The meeting will be held at the Jefferson School of Population Health on the campus of the Thomas Jefferson University in the Connelly Auditorium, 1001 Locust Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107. Tentatively, the meeting is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, and adjourn at 4:00 p.m. 

Hotel Information

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel, 1200 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107, on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a special conference rate for rooms booked in advance for the night of November 6:

• $145/night for single/double occupancy, plus tax.

Please note that reservations must be made no later than Friday, October 16, 2009, to obtain the special conference rate.

To make reservations, call the Loews Philadelphia Hotel Reservations Department directly at 215– 627–1200. Please refer to the Healthy People 2020 Public Meeting room block to receive the special conference rate. Accessible rooms for persons with disabilities are available upon request. Please let the hotel know about your needs.

Air Transportation

EWA Travel is a participating travel agency for the Healthy People 2020 Public Meeting. EWA Travel will discount all published fares (up to 10% depending on fare and advance purchase) with United Airlines and will compare the savings with this airline against promotional fares for all airlines. You will have the option of using United Airlines or another airline, depending on the fare comparisons and your preference. Please note that although you are responsible for making your own travel arrangements, you are not required to use EWA Travel. We are providing this option as a convenience for you.

Ground Transportation from Philadelphia International Airport

Driving directions from Philadelphia International Airport to the Loews Philadelphia Hotel*

• Start out going north on Essington Avenue toward S 70th Street.
• Stay straight to go onto Passyunk Avenue.
• Merge onto I-76 W via the ramp on the left.
• Merge onto Vine Street Expy/I-676 E/US-30 E via Exit 344 toward Central Philadelphia.
• Take the exit toward Broad Street/Central Philadelphia.
• Take the 15th Street ramp toward Central Philadelphia.
• Turn right onto N 15th Street.
• Stay straight to go onto S Penn Sq/PA-611 S.
• Continue to follow S Penn Square N. S Penn Square N becomes S Juniper Street/PA-611 N.
• Turn right onto Market Street.
• The hotel will be on the right.

Driving directions from Philadelphia International Airport to Jefferson School of Population Health (approximately 17 miles)

• Start out going Southwest on Essington Avenue toward Bartram Avenue.
• Turn left onto Bartram Avenue. Merge onto I-95 N.
• Take the PA-611 N/Broad Street exit, Exit 17, toward Pattison Avenue.
• Turn slight left onto S Broad Street/PA-611 N.
• Turn right onto Locust Street.
