How To Obtain Free Continuing Education

The Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP) partners with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to offer free continuing education for Healthy People eLearning offerings. You will need to complete a brief post-test and evaluation to receive your continuing education or certificate of completion.

To obtain continuing education for a Healthy People eLearning lesson or event, please find your activity below and follow these instructions:

Continuing education is available through the CDC Training and Continuing Education Online system only. You must complete the online evaluation within two years of the lesson or event launch date to receive your continuing education or your certificate of completion.

  1. Go to the CDC Training and Continuing Education Online at http://www.cdc.gov/tceonline/. If you have not registered as a participant, click on New Participant to create a user ID and password; otherwise click on Participant Login and login.
  2. Once logged in to the CDC Training and Continuing Education Online website, you will be on the Participant Services page. Click on Search and Register. Search by date, keyword, or course ID to locate the course and click on View.
  3. Click on the course. The course information page will come up. Scroll down to Register Here. Click on the type of continuing education that you would like to receive and then click Submit. Three demographic questions will come up. Complete the questions and then click Submit.

If you have already completed the course, you may choose to go right to the evaluation. Complete the evaluation and click Submit. A record of your course completion and your continuing education certificate will be located in the Transcript and Certificate.
